Philip MacLeod Coupe

1944 - 2013 Philip MacLeod Coupe was brought up in Southport, studied architecture and got his RIBA in 1974. He then specialised in professional lute making until he concentrated on painting and moved to Cumbria. He was elected to the Lakeland Artists Society in 1984 and was president 1990 - 2005. He mostly painted outside in oils or watercolours and came to Iona every year for up to a month from 1998. Latterly he worked on a book “Paintings of Iona: Cadell and Peploe”, 500 copies of which were published by his heirs.
