James McBey

1835 - 1959 Painter and etcher, born in Aberdeenshire. He briefly attended evening classes at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, but was self-taught as an etcher. He become a very well respected artist and leading figure of the British Etching Revival. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, America and the Middle East, creating remarkable etchings of the places he visited.
